In this two-day seminar participants will learn a variety of moxa techniques, most of which belong to what is called “direct moxibustion,” i.e., moxa done directly on the skin. The seminar will establish the rationale for including moxa in one’s practice and will teach the skills for doing so. Various ways of tonifying and dispersing will be taught. A particular focus will be on the use of the bamboo tube when performing moxa. This style of treatment was developed by Junji Mizutani, a modern master. Participants will learn to do “whole body treatments” as developed by Sawada Ken and refined by Junji Mizutani.
This class offers largely a hands-on focus with minimal lecture to set context andrationale. The work at tables will be a combination of groups of 2 and 3. Participants will learn various moxa techniques in the hope that some of them will stick and find a way into their practices.
This seminar is dual fundraiser with proceeds to be split between Moxafrica and the OAAOM
